I found a few more packages that were installed from other repos...
passenger, plexmedia. Then finally after removing an apache module and
jre-6 it started working.
The trouble packages were logged in /var/log/dist-upgrade/*.log
This can be closed.

In case it helps anyone else, I found apt.log had lines with Broken that
were problematic packages that had to be removed before restarting the
upgrade.

A newer suggestion on the openmoko wiki is to move the label net_end to
be above the remove action. The resulting
