I did and I can confirm bad RAM. Surprisingly, Ubuntu 17.10 seems
sensitive to the point that installation fails while latest Mint 18.2
installs without problems.

I have failed to install Ubuntu artful (17.10) on my computer.
I have verified the md5 of the iso file. I am trying a fresh install, since
upgrading from 17.04 gave me a desktop with an invisible mouse pointer.
