Additional information: it appears that this only happens when it is not connected directly to the internet, or (in my case) is missing proxy settings from apt.conf, or has them incorrect (we use a proxy here). On a later install with apt proxy settings correct, it showed the packages I needed and

Public bug reported: I like that I can now download a .deb file and it opens directly in the package installer, however I was installing Kerberos packages on a vanilla Ubuntu Gutsy install, starting with "krb5-user", which reported that "libkadm55" was a dependency (fine so far), but "krb5-config"
