Sorry, I should have listed my workaround as well.
I re-enabled NVraid in the bios. During system post, I entered into the
NVraid setup screen, then I deleted the raid groups on that screen, then
I went back to the bios and disabled NVraid again. After that, dmraid
no longer mapped the old raid

ISSUE:
dmraid simply maps whatever raid info is stored in NVraid without respect to
the bios setting for NVraid to be enabled/disabled.
SEVERITY:
The issue can prevent start-up.
