When installing version 7 of openjdk, lots of GNOME 2 dependencies are
pulled in along with it. This clutters up a system with obsolete
libraries.
The problem is not present in openjdk-6.

This affects me. I never had a problem with any previous release, only
in Intrepid. The graphics card is an nvidia 6600GT.
It is reproduced every time I move the mouse over the title bar.
Changing the window border style from Human to Clearlooks fixes the
problem.

configured, but /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom are not created. This causes

Oddly, if I run 'ubiquity --debug' rather than just clicking on the
icon, it goes past the stalling screen without a problem - I have tried
this twice. I rebooted and tried the standard way of installing again
and it froze in the same place (that's now four attempts with the same
result).

That's correct. I get a busy pointer after trying to proceed beyond the
migration screen, which never goes away. There is no installation of
Vista on the drive, just XP (one partition is NTFS).

This is a problem for me still in Feisty - using an Nvidia 6600GT card
and a Samsung 710T monitor. The resolution is set to 1024x768 despite
the native resolution being 1280x1024 and cannot be set higher without
hacking the xorg.conf file. Other distributions (Fedora, Suse, etc) pick

The version included in Edgy (1.4.3) doesn't have this problem, though I
can also confirm it affects the 1.4.5 version for Edgy.
