Hi,
I don't actually have this laptop any more so I can't test, sorry!
Thanks,
Barry.

I had the same issue on the N130 where it was reported that "No outputs
have backlight property". That was with bios rev 00. I updated the
bios to revision 4 and then I was able to get at the backlight through
sysfs.

Got word from Dmitry upstream that no more patches like this are being
accepted because there is now a userspace solution in 2.6.32. See:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14052
The only way to solve the problem with the 2.6.31 kernel is to apply the
patch though.

Public bug reported:
This bug is common with a lot of samsung laptops. Please see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/360247 for example.
The problem manifests after you enable hal or udev to recognise the
laptop's keymap. I will submit a patch for udev also.

I also think it's a wireless card issue. I have an intel 5100 and i'm
running Jaunty 64-bit.
If I shutdown I get the same stacktrace as you have posted in your
screenshot. If I remove the wifi modules before shutdown there are no
problems.

I would recommend trying alsa 1.0.20. I use a Samsung NC20 with very
similar hardware, if not identical, audio hardware and I can now use my

Apologies for the delay, I thought that the update was going to show in
update manager. I installed the kernel and headers (2.6.28-12) with
apt-get on the terminal just now and I can confirm that the fix is
working. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Hi,
I installed the kernel and it works fine. It overwrote the
2.6.28-11-generic one that i had compiled myself. I installed it on
Jaunty beta and I can check with the full release when it goes live
tomorrow.
The fix also requires that the nc20 model is added to the hal-info
configuration files

Fn and arrow up / arrow down to control screen brightness on a Samsung NC20
Hello All,
I had this problem too. Exact same steps to reproduce as Jeremy Manning.
A solution to this is to force GDM to use 96DPI fonts. This happened with
6.10 as well. I am using a dell XPS m1210 notebook, 12" screen, Nvidia
7400.
Steps to force 96DPI fonts:
