to a file, QEMU no longer can implement a ring buffer (it cannot discard
written data). You would need to do something like the following:

cases where a user may only have read access to an image and as long as
that image is mounted read-only, everything will work okay.
Virtio and SCSI will expose the read-only attribute to the guest so it
should be very obvious

You probably should be using -boot dc. This will cause the VM to boot
into the install OS after installation. This is precisely why
distributions eject the CD after installation (to prevent booting into
the installer again).

kvm-84 had some known qcow2 corruption issues that were later fixed in
the stable series.
I would recommend trying to reproduce with the daily PPA. If that
succeeds, look closely at the kvm-84 package for missing qcow2

Try adding no-kvmclock to the guest kernel command line. If that
addresses the problem, I'd suggest removing CONFIG_KVM_CLOCK from the
guest kernel. There have been some lurking problems with kvm clock.

This has been fixed in kvm-84 (available in Jaunty). By default, write
errors (including ENOSPC) are passed to the guest. You can modify this
behavior to pause the VM on ENOSPC by specifying werror=enospc in the
-drive parameter. werror=enospc will be the default for kvm-85.

This is not a bug. Freedos (and DOS in general) does not idle. Early
x86 processors did not have a hlt instructions so software just ran in a
busy loop when there was nothing else to do.

This problem was introduced by the -11 kernel update. Reverting to the
-10 kernel fixes the problem without changing any userspace tools.

How many servers were you connecting to, what types of servers were they
(RealVNC, Vino, etc.), what type of authentication where the servers
configured to use?
