I've fixed this in https://github.com/canonical/cloud-
init/pull/1340/files (sadly blocked on getting the CLA signed)
I'm interested that you've hit this too @tony-casanova-nc-33-2017.
FWIW, I'm using:
- cloud-init 22.1
- I'm on a Microsoft OS called 'Mariner'
- I'm on VMware vSphere V7 -> I've o
I've also hit this (on VMware), and while I suspect that may be due to
some particular funnies of the OS I am on, I agree a defensive fix in
cloud-init to not raise an Exception if you can't write to /dev/console
and fall back to writing to stdout would be welcomed.
Any objections if I raise a PR

One of the reasons I bought my Dell Mini was the promise of long term
support on Ubuntu 8.04, in practice though that hasn't followed through
to the dell-mini derivative of 8.04. Th
Even though the fix has been accepted into hardy-updates, it still
affects my Dell Inspiron Mini 9.
It looks like the dell-mini repository is still at
2.6.24.13-19.45netbook2; when will this reach the dell-mini version of
the hardy-updates repository?

I wonder that too!!! How is it that is wasn't changed
Sorry, I felt so tired to following this bug, I don't think I would have
time to following the document. I just wish to help but seems it's so
hard for me.
I know it's so complicated to explain such mess, I think that has been
wrong since the im-switch integration in dapper.
And scim-chewing 0.2.
Hi guys,
It's another week past since freeflying said he sent mail to dmz, any
progress?

I think QT_IM_MODULE=scim should go away in dapper, and use xim instead.
Let me mention this again, the qt patch and qtimm in dapper is
incompatible with 3rd-party qt apps, if you want to use qtimm, you
shuold wait untail qt support it directly(impossible in dapper).

Hey guys,
It has been 10 days past, our users are still waitting for the fix.
Any progress?
What changes I expected should made for the fix:
1) Upgrade libchewing to 0.3.0, and scim-chewing to 0.3.1
This will solve the "connot enter any Chinese character issue"
2) Chnages in im-switch's config f

Please change it back to XIM in everywhere, cause it always
