When running aptitude (via SSH inside iTerm 2 on Mac OS), the items in the
"Tasks" view have their first character missing from the display.
For example, the first row says: "D/3D creation and editing suite" where it
should start "2D/3D creation..
Changing `ProtectHome=yes` to `no` in `/lib/systemd/system/redis-
server.service` allows the service to start. My /home dir is a symlink
to a directory on a separate mounted volume, which I assume is the cause
of the trouble.

After following some random links from Launchpad I found this message:

Which discusses whether setting `GPG_OPTS="--pinentry-mode loopback"`
might fix it. I tried that and it does work.
I wish this information was easier to find. :(

I upgraded from 16.04 to 16.10 with `do-release-upgrade` and now my
backups fail with the output below. Unfortunately I don't really
understand what the GNUPG output means and it's not clear from Googling
if I can fix this issue.

`redis-server` package fails to start. I purged and re-installed the
package but it made not difference.

I had the same problem but cannot reproduce it now since rebooting. I
don't recall changing anything. Gparted works fine now!

Adaptor -> 320 GB Hard Disk. Selected an "Unknown" 48GB partition within
