Could it be a Turkish language internationalization issue? The case
mapping is different, and maybe the setting is a Unicode string after

MyPaint doesn't even use the history buffer, or at least it doesn't
invoke gdk_device_get_history() anywhere I can see. Could we be seeing

Hmm. Not sure what was going on there. It's one of the bigger
backgrounds, and if you were tracking the PPA, its's in a separate
package and isn't a hard dependency, which potentially could leave it
half-written when you tried to launch MyPaint...

proposed, 1.8.3p1-1ubuntu3.1, onto an affected system otherwise cleanly

tower multimedia key on F2) and reporting of the close state of the lid

Hotkey stuff on this kind of laptop generates ACPI events, and acpid is
supposed to pick up on those and launch the scripts I mentioned. So the
first thing to do is make sure you're got the ACPI-related packages that
wire things together installed. Make sure the acpi-support package is

Works (kinda) for me with a VGN-B3XP. The sliders under
System>Preferences>Power Management don't work, while the underlying
/sys stuff and hotkeys work fine. See bug 152731 for *that*.

I was able to sort this problem out for myself on my laptop: it could be
a duplicate of bug #65028, and the fix/workaround discussed there seems
to work for me.

The workaround in comment 6 in this thread works for my Vaio VGN-B3XP.
This isn't really a bug with gnome-power-manager IMO: it's a bug with
the hal deb. I've enclosed a patch against hal_0.5.7.1 which appears to
fix it for me.
