i have the same problem , but for me it appeared only since i upgraded to 9.04 . i have vmware player running from a ext4 partition running on a encrypted partition (the same behavior is true also with vmware server). i found out that it is related to the fact that i have guarddog installed and i have setup a very restrictive firewall. After executing "iptables -F ; iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT" , gaim started correctly (without segmentation fault) but without beeing able to connect to the IM Networks. Of course tha
