I was not able to test the kernel on Raring directly. The Raring boot
dies early, and I therefore can not install a new kernel. I tried UCK to
build a Raring live cd with the suggested 3.9 kernel, following
directions from [1]. But the resulting image would not boot.

The same problem on my amd64 system. Should it be opened as another
issue? The original bug seems to be specifical on powerpc architectures
in quantal, while the current amd64 issue popped up with raring.
