Which devscripts version are you using? This was fixed upstream in
2.10.21 so unless it's recurred should be fixed in intrepid and above.

You don't actually have to kill bash; "reset" will fix the display.
If it's any use as a workaround, running debuild with "-uc -us" and then
debsign-ing the files later doesn't exhibit the issue.

This is to be expected. The checks for Ubuntu distributions are enabled
when a package version number contains either the name of an Ubuntu

That won't work unless one uses --preserve-env=PATH. The new option also
allows one to have a "dirty" path in the build environment and not have
to worry about that by letting debuild

relevant SVN revisions of the time includes:

Updating to or backporting licensecheck from upstream would still be the
best answer, but rather than escaping or removing meta-characters one
could simply wrap the pattern in \Q...\E to stop perl attempting to

Could you define "doesn't work" in slightly more detail? Admittedly I've
only tried the Debian package, but it seems to work fine for me once I
fixed the watch file :)
