crashes every time I enable or disable a plugin. after reloading it
works ok and the plugin is in fact enabled/disabled as I had intended.
just an annoying experience.

Not the most elegant solution but this will make sure that the hosts
file is correct, even if you change your host name:
I made a simple little script that can generate the hosts file based on
the current /etc/hostname, you could run this in your /etc/rc.local like
so:
/path/to/mkhosts.sh > /etc/

Setting the fan speed manually has helped here as well. I can set it to
"auto" or a number in /proc/acpi/ibm/fan - the automatic setting
doesn't seem to turn the fan on at all and the processor heats to

The card is a PCMCIA "Generic" re-branded device from wal-mart. It is
detected as :

ok, reinstalling the nvidia driver did the trick. It detected some files
that were apparently overwritten by the recent xorg update from Ubuntu /
Edgy Security. After installing the nvidia glx files everything seems to

I am experiencing lockups that appear to be heat related.

Feisty Beta
Hardware:
IBM Thinkpad A30
P3 1.13 GHZ
Kernel:
both 2.6.20-12-generic
and 2.6.20-13-generic
It seems that the fan is not running at all. I will post debug information if
this is the correct place for it.

I would volunteer to fix this in edgy if someone could point me in the
right direction. I'm a developer but I have minimal experience with os-
level hacking on linux. I can fiddle with initrd images but I don't know
what was missed / broken to cause this bug.
Anyone care to give me a few clues so

Is there a way to get this backported into edgy? Since edgy is a
"production" release and the usb install is a documented feature I
expect that many people will be beating their heads on walls trying to
make this work.

edgy hd-media installer fails
