I think this also happens on the first live session screen. That's a
gnome-shell process running as user ubuntu (999). It's a Xorg session
rather than Wayland, also supported by the information in comment #2.

In theory it sounds harmless, but in practice there was a long period of
time that shim chainloading to fwupd was broken in Ubuntu.
If we didn't have that codepath available to use the non-signed EFI
package without chainloading through shim there wouldn't have been a

Yes, this is still a problem. Please see post #5 above and /bugs/1897185 where
I posted earlier information. As noted by fchen, this started with Ubuntu
updates and has been a problem ever since, though I started seeing it months
ago.
PLEASE fix this.
