version of evolution is not backward compatible with older caldav
specifications.
I stopped using evolution and use Thunderbird and Lightning. There are some
glitches but overall it works.

Same here, at first you are met with a very sparse window, but FreeCad
is thankfully usable if you use the view drop down and select a
workbench
