syntax error in a .profile hangs lightdm permanently

1. Create a .profile with a syntax error
2. Try to log in Ubuntu 3D/normal
3. you are dumped back to login
4. Try to log in again on any account, lightdm hangs indefinitely
5. You can drop to terminal and reboot

I stick with Firefox, and I really appreciate how it has kept listening
to its users and stuck with a clean, native user interface... but
there's a couple of old horrible bugs like this that really need to get
fixed, and I keep following them in the (apparently not quite vain) hope
that it will eve
10 years+...
Why not make it the default that 99% of all browser special keys (Ctrl+1-9,
...) are NOT passed to the plugin, unless the plugin is in a special list of
plugins?
