This happens to me also during normal usage without any kind of
suspend/resume actions. I installed 9.10 as an upgrade from 8.10
recently. When I had 8.10 installed on an EXT3 root partition, this
never happened. Hard drive smart status is healthy with no errors.

PC 701. Since last year I have successfully run ubuntu karmic and lucid
on my EEE PC by plugging in a 320GB WD Passport USB Disk. However now
that I have a USB 3G Huawei

And according to /var/log/apt/term.log my kernel was upgraded from
2.6.31.14.27 to 2.6.31.20.33
After upgrade there was no entry for my old kernel in grub config, so
run update-grub and got it.

Sorry for the extra comment but I forgot to mention this in the
description. I was able to work around this by having brasero create an
image file, and the burn the image file to the disk.

tracks, then it encoded the tracks, then it said creating image, then it

I didn't understand. Is there no package python2.5 in lucid? So, mostly
Lucid will not compatible for servers and programmers for python
environment. As there is products which works only with older versions.
