I just want to bump this, as I tried the package 4.1.4+debian-2.1ubuntu2 by
manually installing it on my Hardy installation (using Ubuntu Studio 8.04) and
it doesn't fix my problem to use autofs /net.
I also tried to use the defaut hardy autofs package and patch /etc/auto.net
file manually then

Greg: Yes, I do. It is the official 8.04. I used it to boot and run
"Live" from an HP Laptop, as well as a Dell Dimension 4500 desktop. In
fact I am writing this note from the Live run on the Dell. Still no dice
on the Acer. Would appreciate any suggestions (short of go get a real
machine :-) ).

When I login in root, my home directory is set to /root.
So When I renamed the mozilla folder or the chrome folder as you
mentioned, I was changing in /root/.mozilla only.
