Same problem after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 via "do-release-
upgrade". However in my case the issue occurred not for a Wired
connection, but for a Mobile Broadband connection (device ttyUSB2 of
type gsm over interface ppp0). Comment 7 fixed the issue.

Same here with a Meizu MX4, OTA-9.1. And switching to HQ is clearly not
a suitable workaround on a meager 3G connection.

Hello.
When i tried to unlock the lockscreen,i enter with any password and with no
password.
The same is when i log in my session.
My account has a very strong password made during installation.

Same problem for me.
Lock screen works fine, but if I try to unlock after few minutes, I got the
password prompt again.
I got access to my Ubuntu laptop (14.10) only forcing a power cycle, pressing
the power button for 5 seconds.
Local user for me as well and it's probably hard to troubleshoot
