to 16.04. The following output was pushed to the screen and then
prompted me to do a bug report.

Also, I've been able to repeat this on multiple 16.04 machines.

I was doing an upgrade of a few utilities and noticed them output when
ifupdown was upgrading.
Setting up ifupdown (0.8.10ubuntu1.2) ...
initctl: Unable to connect to Upstart: Failed to connect to socket
/com/ubuntu/upstart: Connection refused
insserv: warning: script 'scree
If I understand correctly, this won't be fixed at this level. Some sort of
escalation would need to happen to put the facts in front of someone else
to get a different decision.

The man hours lost on this across the globe are rising. The sudo ifdown
eth0; sudo ifup eth0 solution solves some of the problems but not all of
them.
Either way, a better error message would be helpful in at least saving
people from debugging why it doesn't work and then coming in here and

Looks like systemd 219-1ubuntu1 is required to resolve this bug, but
14.10 latest systemd is 208-8ubuntu8.2. What is the best way to get this
enhancement applied?
