I encountered the same problem but at last I found what was wrong with my
command.
I just copied the command from the guide web-page
(https://unity.ubuntu.com/getinvolved/development/unity8/). The command is :
./build.sh –setup
but the actual command that worked for me was:
./build.sh -setup
