In mean time, I setup 2 additional lxd containers, one running jammy,
one running kinetic and I'm hit the error again on kinetic by running
dig +dnssec on random DNS names in a loop
I follow your instructions, but I used
`Environment=SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug` to gain log me
I'm able to assist here, e.g. by enable debugging logs. I need some
instructions what I should setup and have to provide here.

The fix suggested by hgrie works for me. ibus-setup is running ibus-
daemon, which immediately fixed the issue and lasts until logout.
I note that adding 'ibus-daemon --xim' as a startup application is a
permanent fix for the issue in my case.

Currently the dpkg terminal log says users should run "jounarlctl -xe"
for more information in cases where services failed. Then we ask bug
reporters to run "journalctl -xe" and submit the info to the bug, which
they usually don't follow up on. It would be nice if Apport by default

The fix unfortunately did not fix all DNS problems. nslookup and dig can
resolve local hosts, BUT ping and ssh both report 'Name or Service not known'.
Looks like the HOSTS is still required.

In my case after a 17.04 installation I needed a HOSTS file in order to
resolve local hosts. After applying the fix in post #8 both local and
remote hosts were resolved by the router DNS server (as was the case in
the past).

I am in the same situation as Rudiger, with the compose key working in
Terminal and Dash but not anywhere else I can find. System upgraded to
16.04. All fixes listed above attempted, with no improvement.

Happening here on Rhythmbox 3.0.2 and Ubuntu 14.04. Packages have been
kept up to date via `apt-get update/upgrade` procedures.
