I followed these instructions:
1. Edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf as root and add options snd-hda-intel
dmic_detect=0
2. Edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.con

I have the same laptop HP ZBook 15 G6 and my mike is not recognised too.
I'm using ubuntu 18.04 kernel version 5.3.0-28-generic, and with the
newer kernels my whole sound card is not recognised.

Hi all,
After an update of Ubuntu kernel (version 5.3.0-42-generic) I can't have
sound any more. No soundcards are detected any I have a "dummy output"
in the sound pannel in settings. Furthermore I can't resume from sleep
anymore.

In order to find French(Belgian) keyboard in the first list, you have to
install "french" first, as a supported language (bottom button "Managed
Installed Languages").
Then you will see every french options like "French(Canada)",
"French(Belgium)", etc in the main list of inputs.
