but no fix for this issue yet :-(

release for 20.04 LTS included in the repos.

I want to thank for your time and support to this issue, as I'm sure we all do.
Never the less, I have installed you ppa and tried to install
pteid-mw_ubuntu16_amd64.deb, witch is Portuguese Citizen Software and gives the
followin error:
$ sudo apt install ./pteid-mw_ubuntu1
It also affects Portuguese Citizen card software (Aplicação do Cartão de
Cidadão) - pteid-mw_ubuntu16_amd64.deb
pteid-mw : Depende: libcurl3 (>= 7.16.2) mas não vai ser instalado

On my system, this does not seem to be true, and actually went ahead and
added
"$EscapeControlCharactersOnReceive on" to the /etc/rsyslog.conf file,
restarted rsyslog
and the problem still persists.
I am using rsyslogd 7.4.8
