I think apt is making bad decisions here, and having to pass python3:amd64 to
force the right one to be installed is a workaround for a bug in my book.

I think there's another problem: it fails to install gcc-mingw-w64-i686
because autopkgtest tries to install gcc-mingw-w64-i686:i386 which does

elfutils and protobuf and trying to make the build fail... but it
continues working despite the older elfutils compiled with the newer
gcc.
Last check was with protobuf-3.12.4-1ubuntu3 (from jammy, 4 days ago) in
an impish 0.185-1

Sure Brian, here it is.
I think my case was exactly the same, as I also did a 'apt-get
autoremove'.
But, the strange think is that the reboot file vanished and the system
is no longer asking me for reboots (probably since yesterday), but I
didn't do anything specific to try to solve the problem.

How it should work :
1. Turn on the headset --> bluetooth connects automatically the headset
(already paired in the past)
2. Make a call --> dialer-app shows the bluetooth icon by default
3. The sound is routed to the bluetooth headset

I can reproduce this bug on Meizu pro 5 rc-proposed and Nexus 4 rc-
proposed (both last revision)
In my case if you disconnect manually from the bluetooth device and
reconnect to it (in settings>Bluetooth>device name), then the sound is
routed well to bluetooth device
