And I just realized the message "invalid value (typically too big)" is
from the Cairo library. It's the description for
CAIRO_STATUS_INVALID_SIZE.

GTK4 is already in Ubuntu and the GNOME developers are planning GTK5.
The bigger issue here is that apps haven't moved away from GTK3 yet. For
you that includes Desktop Icons NG, Firefox and Thunderbird.
If 22.04 worked then yes please do go back to that. It's also supported for
much longer:

will gtk4 come with 23.04?
Should I wait or just bite the bullet and reinstall (what a pain) as it
worked flawlessly on 22.04?

lxd processes are in enforced mode. May be the issue only manifests

I'm all in favor of a better longer-term fix replacing this one being
tracked in systemd, but an unrelated casper upload regressing this
change prior to a longer-term solution being in place will cause issues

I agree that this issue is not a duplicate of Bug 1641236 and it can be
fixed by adding rw access to /dev/pts/*, which is not the case for the
other bug.

Whoa, I swear I reported against lxc, not apparmor. Has it been
reassigned? OK, it's valid to check possible AppArmor impact. Here is
the syslog (systemd journal) from the host machine. The container
doesn't record kernel messages. Note that the logs are in different
timezones.

Hello,
Looking at the lxc logs exclusively I couldn't figure out what's going on, or
if it's related to AppArmor.
Could you also provide the kernel logs from the host and from the container?
Thank you
