with ubuntu-disable-trigger.patch disabled and then installed. That made
the UI component show up for setting shortcut for "Next input method".
It defaults to Space, but changing it to e.g. Space affects

Thanks Daniel. I uninstalled xserver-xorg-video-intel and removed
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf, which sorted all the display
corruption issues.

If you're talking about "Dim Screen When Inactive", that option should
only appear on laptops with backlights.
So I think the only problem here is that gnome-control-center is showing
the option at all. It's not expected to work on desktops and/or external
monitors.

It looks like the upgrade hasn't worked. For example you still have old
Mesa packages installed.
First please fully update your system:
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
and then reboot. If the problem still persists then please take a photo
of the problem and attach the photo here.

ibus 1.5.22 freezes when switching input method. I have rime installed
in addition to my keyboard layout (US AltGr dead keys). When I try to
switch from rime to US Altgr, ibus freezes and input is not usable.
