I could not replicate for my latest photos this evening what I reported
in #8.
Yet by fiddling in various ways, after a reboot I was able to coax
shotwell to import the photos on the iPhone. I then had command line
access to those photos in the location where shotwell dropped them.
As for /run/us

after apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y an error appeared with CA-
certificates. While apt-get upgrade process there was a terminal entry
which certs I trust and I've got to select them manually (all mozilla
certs). Mozilla Firefox is working anyway.

As far as I know the system is not swapping, at least not a lot, but as
indicated, very hard to figure out what is going on without being able
to use a terminal screen. I also set the swap space to another disk than

I found a bug in pam_tty_audit.
When Using the pam_tty_audit with other pam modules(ex, pam_ldap), it failed
in pam_open_session.
It was triggared by use uninitialized variable in
pam_tty_audit.c::pam_open_session.

If you have removed ubuntu-desktop, your system is a custom install, and
unfortunately, you need to install libu2f-udev yourself
Have you tried installing ubuntu-desktop _without recommends_ ? it
should be a very minimal install, without any additional installs in
bionic onwords.
