I see that symtab compile error when building a systemtap module which
uses userspace stack traces. A minimal example:

Workaround by @8-mail-g worked for me. This question

I may have found a work-around (or the cause of the problem).
I had the focus mode for windows set to "Sloppy". Changing this to
"Click" has seemed to resolve the issue. I am not sure if "Mouse" also
causes the same problem as "Sloppy", but I'm not willing to try, I just
enjoy having my mouse work
That is true @Markus Kuhn - I just wanted to mention it after testing
the debdiff I attached a bit as - severe or not - it is the first thing
that really meets the eye.

Ok it works on desktop because desktop qt loads the
qcomposeplatforminputcontext plugin. On Ubuntu Touch qt loads
qmaliitphabletplatforminputcontext plugin. So no code is available to
handle dead keys.

Just dropping the --with-sntp=no would have been too easy (thanks Murphy).
It runs into build issues.
I was able to track those down to one of the build deps in combination
with no more disabling sntp causing this => autogen.
But then removing autogen build dep is not a "solution" - especially no
removed virtualbox related complaints, re-installed x-org, desktop : X
did refused to start, but after few boots suddenly it started. now only
challenge is to get mouse pointer visible...
