`glib2.0` and `gobject-introspection`)... still no luck.

That still makes no sense -- udev has upstart scripts, so
/etc/init.d/udev should never run under upstart. If you run "service
udev start", what does that show? Is that calling the upstart job or the
init.d script?
Do you get this with 14.10 or 15.04 too?

A stack trace would be super-useful, both of the stuck scope, and of

hooks itself into /etc/dhcp/dhclient-exit-hooks.d which isn't
