I got it working. The issue was with the spdif optical output on my
secondary audio card. Pulse audio initially would not output 5.1 so I
disabled it and tried ALSA. I was then able to output 5.1 in VLC but I was
not able to get any audio to output elsewhere. After trying multiple ALSA
mixers to no

This same bluez version works with Ubuntu 14.10 current-daily-amd64 as
of 20 September. Bluez pairs, connects and is able to stream a2dp stereo
audio to my BT headset. This leads me to believe that the issues with
Bluetooth audio streaming aren't with bluez - perhaps PulseAudio or

Actually, scratch that, the two options did not help at all. The
flickering is terrible as before. I restarted the machine to make sure.

I have switched to rtm r1 single-boot and got location working in
OSMTouch, Google maps and a weather site on the web. The accuracy
indicated that the GPS was involved. But after a reboot, the location no
longer works for me. Will see if it gets going again if I wait. It sure
