reply to a message that came from a client, everything from the original

Hey i'm using :
Squirrelmail 1.4.rc1 with latest CVS
htmlarea v.3.3 and the plugin writes mail with " etc" tags but it doesn't change the type from "plain" to "html" in the header, so when other programs open it up i litterally see " go to the store" . How do i fix this?
