try different php version if you can.
try apache 1.3.33 instead of apache 2.
maybe some functions used in functions/abook_local_file.php don't work
correctly on solaris. maybe rewind(), fgetcsv(), flock(), fclose() or
usleep().
Having trawled through the source code I found the culprit.
