I run conf.pl from /etc/squirrelmail and from
/usr/share/squirrelmail/config, and It doesn't work.

are you running conf.pl from /usr/share/squirrelmail/config? If not, it
won't work. Try to cd to /usr/share/squirrelmail/config and do a
'./conf.pl' and you sould be good to go.
