Sorry - really didn't mean to whine. I'm really grateful for squirrelmail
as it has unchained me from Outlook. I need to do the same work no matter
whether I'm at home or work so in that respect, it really help

Could be Windows and IE..
There is a function under advanced config that says
"Reuse windows when launching shortcuts". Uncheck that.

I suggest a more subtle subject, since we who spend countless hours on
this product in our *spare time* don't always appreciate what feels like
whining (especially when, as you'll see below, the whining was
misinformed/wrong).
