I have a perfectly functioning Squirrelmail 1.4.6 implementation.
I installed Squirrelmail 1.5.1 (with seperate pref and attach
directories), and get

Well, what do you know
If you compile PHP without session support, you won't pass configtest.php
script and login page will display fatal errors.
Issue is specific to changes made by PHP developers in PHP 5.1.2 and 4.4.2.
Attached patch is backport from 1.5.2cvs. It turns off SquirrelMail cookie
handling code and rever
Ummm... I'm gunna say no... So far I've only completed the standard install of PHP and haven't made any sort of adjustments
