Resolved,
Thought I would just post this for reference,in hopes may help someone else.
I deleted this users profile on their computer and now the MS Word docs
opens fine through IE and SM.
Funny thing, even after deleting the users profile( Documents and
Settings) when opening a word doc the [1]

This is very old (yes, it's the newest RHEL provides, but it's still
old). Please test with the newest SM code by downloading directly
from our website.

I have searched the SM archives and can not find an answer. I'm sure I am
just not finding the right search words combination. We have two users at
school that when trying to open and MS Word doc attachment SM throws an
error saying:
"C:\...\##ss##bb## not found"
I am fairly certain
