Thanks for the suggestions, but you failed to notice that I said php
reports openssl support and I have the php4-openssl-4.3.10 pkg installed.
Anyway the soloution to the problem is the FreeBSD ports are broken in 5.3.
You have to re-compile php with static ssl support, for some reason the

When I run configtest
I have squirrelmail (sys1), and imap (sys2) running.
My login fails frequently with the following error in maillog
Command stream end of file, while reading line user=\1t\1e\1s\1t host=xx
This is for user test. Its the \1 in the authentication which is making me
wonder.
