Initially I had not restarted xinetd, but I realized that may have been a
factor and restarted that. I can connect now

SquirrelMail fetches your mail using IMAP. If you don't have an IMAP
server available (and this could be your ISP's IMAP server, it doesn't
have to be your own), SquirrelMail won't be muc

I'm sure that this is a basic question for which I will feel suitably stupid
once I have the answer, but after scouring the FAQ, docs, readmes etc. I
can't find what I'm doing wrong.
Please forgive me if this is a case of not having found the right docs. Would
someone please point me to a doc
