Why would a change of cert cause this? Or is it just a symptom of
another problem? I've reverted back to the old for now, but there's only
1 business day left on that.

One final observation:
I use Apache-SSL, and /etc/squirrelmail/apache.conf is included in
httpd.conf
With the default apache.conf, the error occurs.
If I flip SSLDisable to SSLEnable (and moving the webserver to port 443)
Things start working again.

* Imap works, using telnet or any remote client such as thunderbird.
