Hi,
FWIW: Years ago I had set my Squirrelmail login page as my browser start page,
which automatically logged me out of SM whenever I started a new browser
window. I suppose SM cleared its cookies not when logging in but when
navigating to the login page.

This patch fixes the problem for me with OpenSUSE Leap 42.1, Squirrelmail
1.4.22, for Swedish characters:
- open /path/squirrelmail/functions/i18n.php
- in function charset_decode line 187:
if (! $save_html) $string = htmlspecialchars ($string);
change it to:
if (! $save_html) $string = htmls
I didn't ask for PHP7. I took it because that was what I got when I ran
#apt-get install squirrelmail
The exact files dropped in my var/cache/apt/archives are:
squirrelmail_2%3a1.4.23~svn20120406-2ubuntu1_all.deb
squirrelmail-locales_1.4.18-20090526-1_all.deb
squirrelmail-viewashtml_3.8-3_all.d

Roberto,
I sent you a private e-mail yesterday advicing you to check the forum history
from 2014-12 until now. You should always search for a solution first (without
being instructed to do so), so the people on the forums only have to spend time
on solving a problem once.
I have posted detail

This e-mail is both in response to the e-mail below and to my question
in December whether anybody could advice on a working OpenSUSE 13.2
config. (Since other users wanted me to report back.)
I have now applied the patch (v2 for 1.4.) and so far it seems good. I will
monitor the behaviour over
Hi,
I have been running Squirrelmail without problems for many years, but the
upgrade to OpenSUSE 13.2 has caused problems with Squirrelmail. I'm using the
OS 13.2 versions of Postfix, Dovecot, Apache 2.4.10, PHP 5.6.1, and I have
tried Squirrelmail 1.4.22, the OS13.2 beta version of Squirrelmai
