Not sure why she was the only one having this problem, but I looked at the
settings in php.ini and noticed a line memory_limit 8M. I upped that to 16,
and now it works fine.

This is wierd. When you first go to the login, you get the error, and focus
doesn't work. If you refresh the page, the error is gone and focus works.

I successfully created the database and everything, but when I click on the
link within Squirrelmail, I get this error message:

Well, I finally figured out what the problem was.
In dp_prefs.php, there is a line reading:

Ok, I think I've gotten somewhere.
from mysql, I type:
USE squirrelmail
select * from userprefs;
Which shows me the contents of the userprefs table. When I make a change to
a preference, it shows up there immediately. But, in order to see any
changes within squirrelmail, I need to sign out and si
page, it
reverts back to the original settings. No matter what I do, no changes to
preferences 'take'.
Any ideas?

Thanks everyone for your help.
Here's what happened. The /tmp folder was deleted. When that folder was
re-created, he was logged in as root. So, that gave that folder the wrong
permissions. Once we changed that, it now works fine.

I just noticed that if I login using cleveland, it creates a preference file
named cleveland.pref
If I login using Cleveland, it creates a pref file named Cleveland.pref
So, my question is, is there a way to force all characters in the name field
to lower case?
