Mac OS X server?

We are using Squirrel Mail on an OS X server (currently
10.2.6,...soon to be 10.3). Has anyone used any of the password
plugins to allow a user to edit their password if that password is
stored in the Mac OS X netinfo database?

dd an address to the address book, so it seems OK to
me,...why are these files different than the other files in the data
folder? The others are already 600.
