Your attachment problem will probably be solved if you install the
get_uuencode plugin.
Seems like decoding uuencoded messages/attachments should be built in,
don't it?

I composed a message, and attached a file (pdf), in Outlook Express.
I then sent it to my SquirrelMail. When I opened the message in
SquirrelMail the attachment was shown in the message rather than as a
link.
