SM 1.4.0 is slow. Upgrade to 1.4.1 because it contains a lot of
performance related fixes.
Try to enable server_side_sorting with conf.pl (only works if your
imap-server supports it).

Thanks for your help but I´m afraid it´s slow for everyone. I have installed mysql for
the userprefs and adresses. It works fine but it didn´t speed it up. :(
