I have been struggling with this issue as well and finally found the cause
of my particular problem, so I'll pass it along.
It seems that under RedHat 8.0/9.0 with Apache 2.0.x, there is an
additional PHP configuration file, /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf. Increasing

This bug occurs when I try to compose a message with a large attachment.
The description of the bug:
I am running SquirrelMail 1.4.1-2 under Apache 2.0.40-
I am running SquirrelMail v 1.4.1-2. When I add attachments of moderate
size (200KB or less), they work fine. When I add large attachments (say
800KB +), I receive a "The page cannot be displayed" window in IE
immediately upon clicking the "Add" button.
