[SM-USERS] numerous httpd close_wait

I am using centos 5.1 httpd-2.2.3-11.el5_1.centos.3 squirrelmail-1.4.8-4.0.1.el5.centos.2 after using for sometime, there are numerous httpd close_wait (netstat -a|grep http). Then, the httpd become not responding at all partial listing *** tcp 1 0 :::192.1.254.62:http :::216.19.89

my setting is traditional chinese, whenever there are simplified chinese emails, the following errors displayed per no. of simplified chi emails: Notice: iconv() [function.iconv]: Detected an incomplete multibyte character in input string in /var/www/html/mail/functions/decode/gb2312.php

[SM-USERS] ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server. Query: EXPUNGE

I am running the following config: fc7 dovecot-1.0.3-14.fc7 squirrelmail-1.4.10a.tar.gz I experienced frequent connection dropped error but this error is self recoverable (after clicking inbox one or more times) without having to delete dovecot.index*. This is very annoying. Pls kindly advise
