the problem is that our login usernames are totally different than the
email addresses
example:
username = jan.huh
with corresponding email address [EMAIL PROTECTED]
now when this user send an email the default email address in the send
header

I had experienced the same problem a few days ago and I posted my issue
here. I discovered I had two issues:
1. did not patch the change_passwd plugin
2. I was using a higher version of compatibility plugin. I had to
downgrade to version 1.3 as per the advise I got from google.
