I didn't see a plugin where a user can start the
learning of the bayes filters for Spamassassin.
Don't want to run it with a cron job as this will
provide more false messages due to messages in the
folders that should not be there.

Using squirrel mail and courier IMAP I occassionally get the following error:
ERROR:
ERROR : Could not complete request.
Query: FETCH (FLAGS BODYSTRUCTURE)
Reason Given: Error in IMAP command received by server.

I've setup SM together with Binc imap and everything seems to work just
fine.
I'm using IMAPdir so that I could create folders that are siblings to
INBOX and that too are working just fine. (Had to fix a wrapper to Binc
since I'm using vmailmgr, but that has nothing to do with SM itself.)

we installed Squirrelmail 1.4.3a and changed the default language to
german (de_DE). In the whole application there are some special german
characters like ü, ö or ä. There are no problems with this characters
except in the addressbook, where these characters are shown as ü,
ö or ä.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, or what you're trying to fix, but
this is likely to be a problem with setting up your mail server, which
has very little to do with SquirrelMail,
